CLASS and MECHANISM of Action
Generic Melpred 16 mg is a synthetic (man-made) corticosteroid.
Corticosteroids are naturally-occurring chemicals produced by the adrenal glands located adjacent to the kidneys.
Corticosteroids affect metabolism in various ways and modify the immune system.
Corticosteroids also block inflammation and are used in a wide variety of inflammatory diseases affecting many organs.
Active Ingredients: Methylprednisolone
Inactive Ingredients: Calcium Stearate, Corn Starch, Lactose Mineral, Oil Sorbic, Acid Sucrose.

How Should I Take Generic Melpred 16 mg?
* Use Generic Melpred 16 mg as directed by your doctor.
* Take Generic Melpred 16 mg by mouth with or without food.
* If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
* Generic Melpred 16 mg is in a dosage pack. Follow the directions on the pack for taking Generic Melpred 16 mg unless
directed otherwise by your doctor.
STORAGE:
* Store Generic Melpred 16 mg at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat,
moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
* Keep Generic Melpred 16 mg out of the reach of children and away from pets.
What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic Melpred 16 mg?
You should not use this medication if you are allergic to Generic Melpred 16 mg, or if you have a fungal infection anywhere
in your body.
Before taking Generic Melpred 16 mg, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, and about all other medicines
you are using. There are many other diseases that can be affected by steroid use, and many other medicines that can
interact with steroids. Your steroid medication needs may change if you have any unusual stress such as a serious
illness, fever or infection, or if you have surgery or a medical emergency.
Tell your doctor about any such situation that affects you during treatment.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
* If you miss a dose of Generic Melpred 16 mg , take it as soon as possible.
* If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
What happens if I OVERDOSE?
* Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have received too much of this medicine.
* An overdose of Generic Melpred 16 mg is not expected to produce life-threatening symptoms.
However, long-term use of high steroid doses can lead to symptoms such as thinning skin, easy bruising, changes in the
shape or location of body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair,
menstrual problems, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.
What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic Melpred 16 mg?
* Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor immediately.
* Only your doctor can determine whether it is safe for you to continue taking Generic Melpred 16 mg.
* Side effects may include:
- Abdominal swelling,
- allergic reactions,
- bone fractures,
- bruising,
- congestive heart failure,
- cataracts,
- convulsions,
-Cushingoid symptoms (moon face, weight gain, high blood pressure, emotional disturbances, growth of facial hair in women),
- face redness,
- fluid and salt retention,
- headache, high blood pressure,
- increased eye pressure,
- increased sweating,
- increase in amounts of insulin or hypoglycemic medications needed,
- inflammation of the pancreas,
- irregular menstruation, muscle wasting and weakness,
- osteoporosis, poor healing of wounds, protruding eyes,
- stomach ulcer, suppression of growth in children, symptoms of diabetes,
- thin, fragile skin, tiny red or purplish spots on the skin, vertigo.
What other drugs can INTERACT with Generic Melpred 16 mg?
# Some medicines may interact with Generic Melpred 16 mg. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following: Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), carbamazepine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), lithium, or rifampin because they may decrease Generic Melpred 16 mg 's effectiveness
# Aprepitant, clarithromycin, cyclosporine, diltiazem, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, or troleandomycin because side effects, such as adrenal gland or nervous system problems, may occur
# Aspirin, live vaccines, mifepristone, or ritodrine, because their actions and the risk of their side effects may be increased by Generic Melpred 16 mg This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Generic Melpred 16 mg may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.
