Generic Name :Nicorandil 5 mg
Drug description :White scored tablets marked IK10 or IK20.
Presentation :Tablets, Nicorandil 5 mg ,
Indications :Prevention and treatment of angina.
Adult Dosage :Initially 5 mg twice daily. Titrate according to response. Maintenance, 10 - 20 mg twice daily; maximum 30 mg twice daily. Patients susceptible to headache, initially 5 mg twice daily.
Child Dosage :Not recommended.
Contra Indications of Nicorandil 5 mg :
Cardiogenic shock, left ventricular failure with low filling pressures, hypotension.
Patients who have demonstrated an idiosyncratic response or hypersensitivity to Nicorandil 5 mg .
Concomitant use of Ikorel and sildenafil (Viagra) is contraindicated. Pregnancy, lactation.
Special Precautions of Nicorandil 5 mg :
Use of Nicorandil 5 mg should be avoided in patients with depleted blood volume, low systolic blood pressure, acute
pulmonary oedema or acute myocardial infarction with acute left ventricular failure and low filling pressures.
Used with care when prescribed with antihypertensive drugs. Alternative therapy should be considered if persistent aphtosis
or severe mouth ulceration occurs.

Adverse Reactions of Nicorandil 5 mg :
- Headache,
- vasodilatation,
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- dizziness,
- feeling of weakness.
Hypotension and/or tachycardia at high therapeutic doses. Rarely, myalgia and rash, persistent aphtosis or mouth ulcers.
Very rarely, angioedema, hepatic function abnormalities.
